Mumbai, commonly known as the city of dreams has always generated interest in people’s mind, be it celebrities, night life or striking Victorian architecture that adorn almost every nook and corner of the city. To bring the important episodes of the city alive, Degree 360 Solutions Pvt. Ltd. in association Hindustan Times recently launched a coffee table book on Mumbai named, “Mumbai Marvels”.
The book launched by Shri Chagan Bhujbal, Minister for Tourism Govt. of Maharashtra, showcases 25 most iconic places of Mumbai.
It includes places which have heritage and historic value associated with them, interesting stories, trivia attached to them and also the one’s which have seen a transformation over a period, for example, CST, Flora Fountain, Bandra Station, Juhu Beach, Nariman point (Queen's necklace), Lower Parel area etc.
Sh. Arun khurana, Director of Degree 360 Solutions Pvt. Ltd. said, “There are many books that show you glimpses of Mumbai, but we wanted to make a different and new book that would act as an insight to the city. It would guide you about places, which are a must to visit and why. We have tried to bring in freshness to the already existing facts.”
The book divides the cities attraction into five broad categories: heritage, leisure, open spaces, markets and the urban valley. Within each section, there are profiles of five places in Mumbai that speak best of city’s spirit.
These include spots such as Banganga tank, cloth markets at Bhuleshwar, Mukes Ambani’s residence Antila and Café Samovar at the Jenigar art gallery. Each profile contains the history of the landmark, what it means to the city and the issues it faces.
Impressed and ecstatic with the initiative, Shri. Chhagan Bhujbal said,”I am happy and honoured to launch such a book which sets itself apart from the dozens of other coffee table books on the city. It is a well researched book which has been compiled with a new and the fresh perspectives on each place.”
The books circulation has been limited to the decision maker’s of the nation.
