India’s most watched sports channel Ten Sports will telecast the “Hero Honda FIH World Cup 2010” starting February 28 to March 13, 2010. The prestigious once in four year extravaganza will be played at National Stadium, Delhi. Ten Sports will also be producing the telecast of the World Cup.
The Hero Honda FIH World Cup will have the top 12 teams namely Pakistan, India, Korea, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Netherlands, Germany, Spain, England, Argentina and Canda clashing with each other for the coveted title. South Africa will take on Spain in the opening match on February 28, 2010. Hosts India will start their campaign by playing the last match on Day One against traditional rivals Pakistan.
The Hockey World Cup is being organised by International Hockey Federation (FIH) since 1971. It is held every four years, bridging the four years between the Summer Olympics. Five countries have dominated the event's history. Pakistan is the most successful team, having won the tournament four times. The Netherlands have won three titles, Germany has won two titles while India and Australia have each won the tournament once.
