VMware, Inc. (VMW: NYSE), the global leader in virtualization solutions from the desktop to the datacenter, announced today the appointment of T. Srinivasan as Managing Director (MD) of VMware India. In this role, Srinivasan is also responsible for markets under the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), which includes Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka.
Srinivasan is responsible for running all aspects of VMware’s business operations - including sales, marketing, services and channels – in India and the SAARC economies. Srinivasan reports directly to Andrew Dutton, head of VMware’s Asia Pacific and Japan organization.
Srinivasan joins VMware from Oracle India, where he was Vice President of Technology Sales. In this role, he was responsible for managing the company’s technology sales business and leading a large team of sales, pre-sales and alliance professionals.
Srinivasan brings more than 28 years of sales and management experience in the IT industry to his new role with VMware. He has extensive working knowledge of the Indian IT market, having previously held senior management positions with Informatica, HP Software India, Mercury, EMC, Wipro and HCL in India.
"VMware continues to grow as the leader in virtualization, which is considered by industry watchers to be the most important trend in 2009 and beyond,” said Dutton. We are therefore delighted to have Srinivasan join VMware to head our business in India, one of the fastest growing regions in the world for VMware.”
“Srinivasan brings deep understanding of the local market, combined with a very strong track record in building customer and partner relationships, and success in driving business results,” said Dutton. “I am confident that Srinivasan’s leadership will accelerate VMware’s ability to realize its full potential in the Indian marketplace.”
“I’m very excited to join this dynamic organization and look forward to leading this team to further expand VMware’s presence in India,” said Srinivasan. “As the global leader in virtualization, we are well positioned to work closely with our partners to help businesses and public sector organizations in India reap the benefits of virtualization and, at the same time, contribute towards India’s overall economic competitiveness.”
T. Srinivasan is based in Bangalore.
