"I have been told that 75,000 teachers will be affected by new policies being adopted by the state government. I ask you to agitate, you will not achieve anything without resorting to agitation," Bose told a rally of primary teachers here.
Expressing sympathy with primary teachers, he alleged that the atmosphere in the education sector in the state has been vitiated.
"There is uncertainty and anxiety among parents of students due to the prevailing anarchy in educational institutions," Bose said.
The state education department had apparently brought the proposal following several complaints that in many cases teachers set homework on topics without teaching them in school.
