"The state saw record visits of 1.2 crore tourists and pilgrims in the state last year," an official spokesperson said here today.
Over 101 lakh pilgrims visited the cave shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi, while 13 lakh tourists visited the Valley and six lakh pilgrims to Amarnath in 2012, he said.
Consolidation of peace and development and strengthening of public empowerment measures in the state has led to a positive trend of tourist influx, he said.
However, there has been slight dip in number of tourists travelling to the state compared to 2011. Around 1.5 crore pilgrims and tourists had visited Jammu and Kashmir in 2011.
