The contraband, worth Rs 70 lakh in the market, was found wrapped in 70 packets each weighing 20 kg from the vault of the tanker yesterday, a senior police officer said.
The seizure was made during routine checking of vehicles yesterday by Nagaland police who along with armed CRPF personnel gave a chase when the tanker driver refused to stop at the inter-state border gate of Khuzama. The security personnel intercepted the vehicle near Viswema village.
The driver of the carrier, identified as Khuraijam Denesh Singh of West Imphal, was taken into police custody and the vehicle was impounded.
