A 25-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly killing a builder over a property dispute in west Delhi, police said today.

On Saturday, Rajender Goel, owner of a banquet hall, had been attacked by four men on two motorcycles in Ranhola area. The assailants had fired around six rounds on him from close range. He was declared brought dead at a hospital, police said.

One of the accused, identified as Sahil Tomar alias Pradeep Tomar, was arrested yesterday from Najafgarh area. He has confessed to committing the crime at the behest of his close relative Sunil Kumar, said Seju P Kuruvilla, deputy commissioner of police (outer).

Goel was in the business of selling and purchasing lands and properties and he was involved in various litigations in courts, the DCP said.

The investigation team focused on the parties involved in these litigations and noticed one civil case where Kumar had filed a petition in a district court, requesting to restrict Goel from entering a property in Nihal Vihar, the DCP said.

It was found that Kumar, along with few others, had come to that piece of land and allegedly threatened Goel with dire consequences. Kumar, who was also present on that day, is absconding, he added.
