According to police, the victim, Jamshed, an employee of a garments shop, was sleeping along with four others under the balcony at a building adjacent to the New Friends Colony community centre.
At around 10 pm yesterday a portion of the balcony came crashing down on the men sleeping below. Jamshed was buried under the rubble. The building was declared dangerous by the civic body.
Locals pulled the four others out of the rubble and informed the fire department about the incident. Fire officials rushed to the spot and pulled out Jamshed who was rushed to the AIIMS trauma centre where he was declared dead on arrival.
