1 killed, 40 injured as bus falls into gorge

One person was killed and forty others were injured when a private Gujarat tourist bus fell into a deep gorge as the driver lost control after hitting a motorcycle at Cheepa Beri area, police said today.
The incident took place last night when the bus carrying tourists hit a motorcycle following which, it fell into a gorge in Cheepa Beri area, 12 kilometers from Mount Abu, they said.
A 60-year-old Shanti Devi succumbed to her internal injuries at a trauma hospital in Abu Road in Sikar district, SHO of Mount Abu, Sajjan Singh told PTI over phone.
Of the injured, 14 passengers were admitted to the trauma hospital, he said, adding the injured included two young men riding the motorcycle hit by the bus.

Tourists had come to Baba Ramdeora in Jaisalmer district for pilgrimage and were returning to Ahmedabad after a stay at Mount Abu, he said.
A few passengers in the 56-seater bus were unhurt as the bus turned turtle only once, he said, adding, they were taken out with the help of locals.
