1 lakh more CCTV cameras to be installed to check crime: Hry

Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar today said one lakh more CCTV cameras would be installed at various places to check criminal activities and promised that organised crime won't be allowed to grow in the state.
Addressing police officers after laying the foundation stone of Haryana 100 Project, a centralised police control room, at Panchkula near here, he exhorted the personnel of the force to maintain law and order and not allow any kind of criminals activities in their respective areas.
The centralised police control room equipped with 600 vehicles, CCTV management, software and hardware systems, would be integrated with fire services, ambulance services, disaster management, women helpline, banking security for cash van tracking, and other intelligence inputs.

The government would install one lakh closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras at various places this fiscal. With this, the number of CCTV cameras would reach three lakh in the state, Khattar said.
There are enough resources to meet infrastructural requirements of the police department to enable them serve the people in a better way, he said.
Asserting that the state government would not let organized crime to grow, the chief minister said, "This is my promise and commitment to the people of the state."

"We will also ensure deployment of such trained officials at the centralized police control room who know most of the languages spoken in the country as well as some foreign languages.

"This will help people of other states and foreigners in getting quick emergency response. Personnel to be deputed under this project would be well educated and well informed about information technology," the chief minister said.
Khattar said, "Police behavior towards people should be friendly. In this direction, Mitra-kaksh has been opened on a pilot basis in Karnal and Rohtak and this concept would be replicated in other districts."
He said the government had decided to strengthen the police force by recruiting 4,500 constables, including 1,092 females, and fill up other vacancies of sub-inspector (both male and female) and DSPs.
The chief minister said at present, women constituted eight per cent of the total sanctioned strength of the police force and efforts are on to increase it to 10 per cent by the end of this year.

"We want to enhance this figure to 33 per cent," he said.
Giving details of the 'Haryana 100' project, Director General of Police B S Sandhu said work on this ambitious project would be completed before November 1, 2018.
The Police Emergency Response System would give prompt, efficient, integrated and citizen-friendly emergency response to the public on issues of safety and security anytime and anywhere in the state, he said.
