10 accused in RTI activist Nadeem Saiyed murder case acquitted

A court here today acquitted ten accused in the case of murder of RTI activist Nadeem Saiyed for want of evidence.
Additional Sessions Judge P A Patel acquitted ten of the eleven accused against whom the police had filed the charge sheet for murdering Saiyed who had referred to betting and cow slaughtering activities in the city.
The eleventh accused, Parvez Khan, jumped bail and is yet to be traced.
The judge said that witness' testimony was not enough and the police could not recover the weapons used in the crime.
Saiyed was murdered at a tea stall in Juhapura here on September 5, 2011.

He had earlier tipped off the police about those who had attacked a police team and burned a police vehicle when the team was searching for some people involved in betting and cow slaughtering activities.
According to the police, Muneer Qureshi, one of the accused, had been offered Rs five lakh for Saiyed's murder.
