10 die of swine flu in a day in Maharashtra, toll reaches 211

Ten people died of swine flu in Maharashtra today, taking the death toll due to H1N1 viral infection to 211.

"Ten deaths were reported today. (Out of them) four were from Pune, two from Mumbai, and one each from Ahmednagar, Aurangabad, Latur and Washim districts," a public health official said.

Till date, there have been 2501 cases in the state and as many as 37 people infected by the H1N1 virus are on ventilator, the official said.

"The total number of patients discharged is 1901 while 392 are still in hospitals and 115 new cases have been reported," he said.

Meanwhile, Commissioner, Food and Drug Administration, Harshadeep Kamble said hospitals in the state, both government and semi-government, have sufficient stock of swine flu medicine which are available for free.
