10-year-old-girl allegedly raped and murdered

A 10-year-old girl was allegedly raped and murdered in Guhiapal village, about 90 km from here, in Ghatsila sub-division of East Singhbhum district.
The girl, a student of class II, went missing since last afternoon and the body was recovered from an irrigation well beside the river Swarnarekha, Superintendent of Police (rural), Rajiv Ranjan, said.
Prima facie, it appeared that the girl was raped before murder by unidentified miscreant even though she resisted the move, the SP said adding that it would be confirmed after post-mortem.
He said the police has pressed sniffer dogs to trace the culprit, who happened to be from the same village.

We have identified the culprit, who was absconding, the SP, who rushed to the spot on being informed, said.
Meanwhile, the body was sent for post-mortem after a case was lodged in this regard, he added.
