10-year-old girl forcefully married, raped in J&K, 5 held

A minor girl was forcefully married to a 40-year-old man and allegedly raped by him, following which the accused and his four accomplices were arrested in this connection here, police said today.
We received information that a 10-year-old girl was forced to marry the man in the Chanderkote area of Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir. All the five accused were arrested yesterday and booked under various sections of Prevention of Child Marriage Act and Rape, a police officer said.
He said that acting on an information, police arrested five persons identified as - Romesh Lal (groom), Thakroo, Bittu, Krishan Chand and Romesh Kumar.

He said that the police was investigating the case and more arrests are expected in the days to come.
