1000 tourists rescued after stranded at waterfall after flood

Around 1000 tourists were rescued today hours after they were trapped at the Kakolat waterfall in Bihar's Nawada district following heavy rain in the hills, official sources said.
The local tourists were splashing around in a water body under the Kakolat waterfall bordering Jharkhand when a sudden surge of water following heavy rainfall forced them to take shelter on the hill top, the sources said.
With the help of local people, the tourists formed a human chain and safely moved away from the waterfall and clambered up the hill to safety, sources said.
The District Magistrate Lalan Jee and the Superintendent of Police (SP) Manavjeet Singh Dhillon rushed to the spot and commenced rescue and relief operations for the stranded tourists, the sources added.
