The students have been on a stir since January 27 on their demands for 100 per cent reservation for the posts of forest rangers and priority to the post of foresters for forestry graduates.
They began the indefinte fast yesterday to try and break the deadlock, claiming that Government had not responded positively to their demands.
Though a few student representatives had met two senior ministers at Chennai yesterday, the discussions did not yield the desired results and the students continued their fast.
Police said parents of the students planned to stage a demonstration in front of the college against 'apathy' of the management and Government, necessitating deployment of adequate number of police personnel to meet any possible eventualities.
They said they are also on alert, following the reported demonstrations planned by DMK, Left Parties and BJP in support of the striking students.
