Inspector General of Prisons Mihir Vardhan told PTI today that the prisoners are released as per the order of Goa State Sentence Review Board.
"They will be released after certain primary formalities. Within two to three days they will be free," he said.
The prisoners who will be freed are mostly convicted for murder charges, of whom 10 are in Central Jail Aguada and one in Central Jail prison.
One of the convicts has been in jail for around 26 years, he said.
"The prisoners will be given a choice on whether they want to move out now or after the arrangement is made for their living outside," he said.
