11 infants die in Purulia Sadar Deben Mahato Hospital

Eleven infants have died in the Purulia Sadar Deben Mahato Hospital here since Friday, hospital sources said today.
The infants died as most of them were malnourished, born under weight and also due to dehydration, Hospital Superintendent Nilanjana Sen said.
Seven of the babies were in the age group of 0-11 month old the, sources said.
A government hospital in Malda district had reported 16 deaths last month, prompting the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to seek a report from West Bengal.
