11 killed in two road mishaps in Ranchi

Eleven persons were killed and six others injured in two separate road accidents in Jharkhand's Ranchi and Pakur districts, police said today.
Eight persons were killed and four injured when a vehicle rammed into their overcrowded autorickshaw from behind on the Ranchi-Gumla road under Bero police station last night, SP (Rural) Surendra Kumar Jha said.
While five persons died on the spot, three others succumbed to their injuries this morning, he said.
In another mishap today, three persons were killed on the spot and two others injured when a brick-laden tractor overturned in Sherpur village under Maneshpur police station area of Pakur district, police said.
The victims include the owner of the vehicle, Gaja Sheikh. The mishap happened as the driver lost control over the vehicle and it overturned, they said.
The injured were rushed to a hospital in Rampurhat in adjoining West Bengal.
