11 Naxals surrender in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district

Eleven Naxals, five of them carrying cash reward on their heads, today surrendered in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district, citing disappointment with the "hollow" Maoist ideology, police said.
The cadres, including three women, turned themselves in before Sukma Superintendent of Police Abhishek Meena at the district headquarters, around 400 km from here, they said.
They also surrendered two guns, the police said.
Two of the surrendered ultras, Kunjam Hadma and Madvi Hidma, were carrying reward of Rs 8 lakh each on their heads, Meena said.
The duo was attached with the military wing of the Maoists and active in the south Bastar region, the SP told PTI.

Similarly, Tati Sanki, a "deputy commander" rank cadre, was carrying a reward of Rs 2 lakh on her head, the police officer said.

Two others -- Dirdo Deva, a member of Dornapal LOS (local operation squad), and Kadti Hidme, chief of the Kisan Adivasi Mazdoor Sangathan (KAMS), a front organisation of Maoists - were carrying a reward of Rs 1 lakh on their heads, Meena said.
The rest of the ultras were active as lower-rung cadres, the SP said.
Meena said in their statement, the Naxals said they were disappointed with the "hollow" ideology of the outlawed CPI (Maoist) and violence carried out by the outfit. Hence, they decided to surrender and join the national mainstream.

Moreover, they were impressed with the provisions of the state government's surrender and rehabilitation policy for rebels, the police officer added.
He said Rs 10,000 in cash was given to each of the surrendered rebels as encouragement money, the SP said.
