114-year old Toda woman passes away

A 114-year-old woman, said to be the oldest member of the Toda community, passed away at Glenmorgan, near here today following an age-related illness.
Rujjammal is survived by five daughters, aged between 72and 86, and 265 descendants - grandsons, great-grandsons and great-granddaughters, including six children out of the 2,000-strong Toda population, family sources said.
Her husband, two other daughters and six sons died before her.
The woman had been healthy till recently and had never gone to a hospital or taken medicine, they said.
She passed away at her ancestral house in Pudumund and all her blood relatives live in 57 such Munds (habitats) in Nilgiris district.
