A dawn-to-dusk bandh today affected life in Terai-Dooars area of Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar districts
Official reports said the shutdown, called by a tribal organisation leader to press for issues, affected vehicular movement in Dooars as private buses did not ply and many shops downed shutters.
Work in 14 tea gardens in the belt was also hit as a result.
The leader John Barla claimed the strike was total.
