12 rare freshwater turtles rescued

At least 12 turtles of a rare variety were today rescued by forest officials near Bayalish Mouza here.
The freshwater turtles of 'Chitra Indica' species were found dumped in a sack near Bayalish Mouza here in mysterious circumstances and no one claimed ownership, forest officials said.
These turtles come under schedule II category of Wildlife Protection Act.
Forest officials were investigating into the incident after registering a case.
The turtles were being taken to Nandankanan zoo for better care and protection, the officials said.
