Five thousand cusec water has been released from the Konar dam in Hazaribagh district following heavy rains since yesterday.
"The water was released at 6 PM and a total 15,000 cusec will be released after 10 PM tonight," said Amit Kumar, Executive Engineer-cum-Nodal officer of Hazaribagh District Disaster Management Department.
"Water inflow in the Konar river, a tributary of the Damodar, is increasing following heavy rains.
"Though there is no need for evacuation of people of the villages along the downstream, we have alerted villagers in Giridih, Hazaribagh and Bokaro districts not to venture into rivers for fishing," he said.
