The grand event is being held at Kalibari Temple in Peshawar cantonment. Elders of the minority Hindu community decided to celebrate the event in a befitting manner this year.
All Pakistan Hindu Rights Movement chairman Haroon Sarab Dayal told PTI that the elders decided to make Raksha Bandhan a big event after several years.
Hindus from Mardan, Nowshera and other cities and towns across the province are participating in the event.
Raksha Bandhan is a festival in which sisters tie a 'rakhi' or a sacred thread on their brothers' wrist.
