Municipal fire department spokesman Mario Utum said today's crash occurred near the township of Nahuala in the Solola department. It was unknown what caused the bus to plunge into the 150-foot chasm.
Utum said men, women and children were among the victims. The bus was bound for Guatemala City.
He said the death toll could rise as several people were seriously injured.
