15 districts in Rajasthan receive abnormal rainfall in 1 month

With the pre-monsoon activity and early arrival of south-west monsoon, 15 out of 33 districts in Rajasthan received abnormal rainfall of 60 per cent or more from June one to July 2, an official of Irrigation department said here.
Whereas, nine districts received excess and remaining nine normal rainfall during the stipulated period, the official said quoting the preciptation data.
As compared to last year in the corresponding month of June, Rajasthan received an actual average rainfall of 91.47 mm, while it was 18.84 mm in 2014. This time in the stipulated month, the rainfall percentage was 46.84 per cent.
Bikaner, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Jalore, Sirohi, Nagaur, Tonk, Bharatpur, Karauli, Sawaimadhopur, Jhunjhunu, Kota, Bundi, Jhalawar, and Dungarpur were the districts where the rainfall category was 'abnormal' with 60 per cent or above.
Excess rainfall from 20 to 60 per cent occurred in Jaipur, Churu, Bikaner, Ajmer, Dausa, Sikar, Baran, Udaipur and Rajsamand.
Remaining nine districts including Sriganganagar, Hanumangarh, Pali, Bhilwara, Dholpur, Alwar, Banswara, Chittorgarh, and Pratapgarh were in the category of normal rainfall, upto 19 per cent.
As compared to this season, last year there were 21 districts that fell in the category of scanty rainfall, and four in the deficit rainfall. Only two districts had excess and six districts normal rainfall in 2014.
Meanwhile, SW monsoon was active over most parts of Rajasthan as Nagaur recorded the maximum rainfall of 51 mm in the state.
Whereas, Churu recorded rainfall of 19.89 mm, followed by Bikaner 12.44 mm, Alwar 11.64, Bharatpur 6.8, Karuali 5.8, Jaipur 3.8, and one to 2 mm at many places in the state.
Current monsoon spell will exist over the state in next 24 hours, a forecast said.
