According to police, the girl who is a native of Lakshmipuram under Bheemili district zone went to her grandfather's house at Venkatapuram of Padmanabham, a few days ago.
While returning to her hometown this morning, P Gangaraju, a resident of her neighboring village, took her to a mango orchard and allegedly raped her.
The police alleged that Gangaraju had harassed her to marry him few months ago, after which he was admonished by village elders.
Padmanabham's police inspector A Srinivasa Rao said that after the girl lodged a complaint, a case has been registered against the accused Gangaraju under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
A manhunt has been launched to nab the absconder.
