Pakistani troops targeted forward posts and villages along the LoC in Shahpur sector and the exchange of fire between the two sides was on when reports last came, a police official said.
Shahnaz Bano, 15, of Islamabad village of Shahpur was injured in the Pakistani firing and hospitalised, he said.
A Defence spokesman said Pakistan Army initiated unprovoked and indiscriminate firing of small arms, automatics and mortars around 1110 hours. The Indian Army retaliated strongly and effectively, he said.
While there were no ceasefire violations by Pakistan reported along the IB since January 22, intermittent shelling has taken place along the LoC.
