The accident occurred in Nanfeng County of Jiangxi last night when a vehicle, believed to be a bus overturned on a provincial highway, according to officials.
A total of 28 people, including 24 women, were aboard the vehicle when the accident happened.
Fifteen people were killed on the spot, while one succumbed to his injuries in the hospital .
They are all farmers from the Taihe Township of Nanfeng County and were on their way back home from a temporary job in Fujian Province, state run Xinhua news agency reported.
