16 policemen died in line of duty this year, says AP DGP

Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) J V Ramudu today said during this year 16 police personnel have died in the line of duty.
Of these 14 were killed in Andhra Pradesh while two others who belonged to AP died in other states.
Speaking to reporters on eve of the police commemoration day, the DGP said families of the slain police personnel were given Rs 5 to 10 lakh as compensation depending on their rank.
The DGP said home-guards will also be paid Rs 2.5 lakh in case of death.
The state level police commemoration Day celebrations will be held here tomorrow where Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naiadu will be the Chief Guest, Ramudu informed.
