The incident occurred this morning near Sindhawali village under Mansurpur police station when the girl was going to school with her brother, police said.
When they were on their way to the school, three youths came on a motorcycle and started teasing the girl to which her brother resisted and a scuffle broke out between the trio and him, police said, adding one of the accused then opened fire at the boy.
A case has been registered against the three youths who fled from the scene of the incident and police was further probing the matter.
