2.45 lakh people got assistance under DAY-NULM till Dec 2017

Over 2.45 lakh beneficiaries of a Central government scheme for improving livelihood in urban areas have been assisted to set up individual or group micro enterprises, Union Housing and Urban Affairs minister Hardeep Singh Puri said today.
According to an official release, at a meeting of the governing council of Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana - National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM) here, he said, "Till December 2017, a total of 2,45,348 beneficiaries have been assisted under DAY-NULM for setting up individual/group micro enterprises."
DAY-NULM aims to reduce poverty and vulnerability of urban poor households by enabling them to access self- employment and skilled wage employment opportunities.
During the meeting, it was informed that total utilisation of funds by the states since 2014-15 was Rs 2,149.37 crore, the release said.
Over 5.7 lakh street vendors have been issued ID cards so far, it said.
