Referring to the latest National Sample Survey Organisation (NSSO) data, it put the estimated number of unemployed persons in Delhi at around 2.66 lakh in June 2012 constituting 4.46 per cent of the whole labour force in the national capital.
The number of unemployed persons registered in employment exchanges in Delhi increased from 6.36 lakh in 2004 to 9.12 lakh in 2013.
Professionals dominated the occupational distribution of unemployed persons registered with Employment Exchanges in Delhi, at 2,76,427. Other major occupations with high unemployment levels included clerical and service worker categories.
The estimated number of persons in labour force in 2012 was 59.72 lakh. It constituted 94.16 per cent urban employed and 1.38 per cent rural employed.
