Local AIADMK unit secretary Ramachandran and ward member Sundareshwaran were arrested and Rs 50,500 cash was seized from them in Sholavandan, they said.
They had allegedly kept Rs 250 each in covers meant for distribution to voters ahead of the May 16 assembly elections.
Cases under IPC sections 171(E) (punishment for bribery) and 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) were registered.
In another poll-related incident, two persons were arrested in Periyakulam in Theni District for allegedly spreading rumour that AIADMK workers have gathered in a house and were sorting out money for distribution to voters.
Income tax officials and DSP Umamaheswaran rushed to the spot and found the AIADMK workere were only verifying election accounts.
Police arrested one Mani and Ramesh for spreading the rumour.
