The boys were playing in the courtyard of a house in the village located under Kuchinda police station jurisdiction when a portion of earthen wall suddenly caved in, Inspector In-Charge of Kuchinda police station P K Meher said.
The two children were rushed to Kuchinda hospital where doctors declared them dead, they said.
The deceased were identified as Tarani Pruseth and and Ranjan Sahu, both aged between 5 and 8 years.
Incessant rain lashed Sambalpur district, particularly Kuchinda sub-division, for the last three days, disrupting normal life.
