2-day regional editors' conference begins on Monday

Around 100 senior mediapersons from north and north-eastern states of the country will interact with some Union ministers during a two-day regional editors' conference that kicks off in Chandigarh on Monday.
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and VP Singh Badnore, Punjab Governor and Administrator of Union Territory of Chandigarh, will inaugurate the 'Regional Editors' Conference for North and North-eastern States' which is being organised by Press Information Bureau (PIB), an official release said.
Mediapersons from northern states of Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh and UT of Chandigarh and north-eastern states of Assam, Manipur, Tripura and Mizoram are expected to participate in the conference, it said.
Union Ministers of Home Affairs, Women and Child Development, Road Transport and Highways, Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution, Agriculture & Farmers' Welfare and Development for North East region will address the mediapersons.
The purpose of the conference is to enable senior mediapersons to acquire a deeper perspective and context with regard to key initiatives, policies, programmes and achievements of various ministries, the release said.
The occasion will also provide the editors an opportunity to interact with the Union ministers and seek clarifications on these issues, it added.
This is the third Regional Editors' Conference being organised by PIB during this calendar year. The earlier Regional Editors' Conferences were held in Jaipur and Chennai.
