Two followers of the Sirsa-headquartered sect Dera Sacha Sauda, whose head is acting in an upcoming film, were injured after they were allegedly attacked by a group of unidentified persons when they took strong objection to tearing of the film posters by them, police said today.
The two Dera followers identified as Surinder Kumar Arora of Beant Nagar in Moga and Jaswant Singh of Baba Nand Singh Nagar, also in Moga, were injured last night when they were attacked by about nine unidentified persons, who were armed with baseball bats and lathis.
The duo had objected when the accused tore film posters and flex board installed on the walls of some shops here.
The accused escaped from the spot after the incident.
Police patrolling had been intensified in the town to check any untoward incident.
"The situation in the town is under control," SSP Moga, Jatinder Singh Khaira said.
Notably, Sirsa-based Dera Sacha Sauda sect head Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh is in line of fire from different Sikh organisations, including top temporal seat of Sikhs the Sri Akal Takht, for his upcoming film next year.
The sect head is set to hit the big screen next month with a film 'Messenger of God (MSG)', where he himself is playing the lead role.
