The accused - Mohammead Anjarul Haq and Mohammed Ansari from Malda district in West Bengal were apprehended on December 20 from Bajwa area and were remanded in 11-day police custody by a local court.
The duo were lodged at Jawaharnagar police station.
"The accused escaped after a police constable, who was on duty, opened the lock-up on their request for allowing them to go for nature's call," D J Patel, Joint Commissioner of Police, Vadodara told PTI.
"We have launched a manhunt. Police was supposed to take them to Malda for investigations today. Policemen responsible for this incident will be suspended," Patel added.
