Dayashankar Pathak, 57, and Hasnain, 50, were on their way to take part in a sit-in organised by homeguards at Damodar Park when the mishap took place yesterday, they said.
While Pathak died on the spot, Hasnain was rushed to a private hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, police said, adding the bodies have been sent for post-mortem.
Meanwhile, tempers ran high at the demonstration of homeguards after the news of the accident spread. The situation was, however, under control, police said.
