At least two persons were injured today in a clash between two groups outside the Congress Bhavan here when polls were being held to elect the president of the party's student wing - National Students' Union of India (NSUI), Odisha.
The police recovered some half burnt ballot papers and ballot boxes from the Congress Bhavan campus where additional deployment of force was made in view of the situation. The two persons were injured due to blasting of hand-made bombs, police said.
Senior Congress leader and former minister Suresh Kumar Routray, however, alleged that some outsiders and non-Congress persons hurled hand made bombs to disrupt the polling held in the Congress Bhavan campus. "No Congress man is involved in the incident," Routray claimed.
The polling process was disrupted due to the violence. Senior Congress leaders including OPCC president Prasad Harichandan remained tight lipped over the incident.
