Two Maoists, including a 17-year-old girl, today surrendered before the police here today.
They were allegedly involved in an IED blast in the premises of CRPF Musaboni camp and kidnapping of a train driver a few months ago in Ghatsila sub-division and other Naxal related cases.
Mangal Tudu and the teenage girl, members of Gorabandha squad of CPI (Maoists), surrendered before the DIG (Kolhan) Sambhu Thakur at Golmuri police line here.
Appreciating their decision to return to the mainstream of the society, Thakur said 22-year-old Tudu and the girl surrendered due to internal bickering.
Besides, they were also influenced by the state government's Surrender and Rehabilitation Policy, he said.
The duo had joined the ultra outfit about a year ago and were active in the Gorabandha squad headed by Kanu Munda.
Senior Superintendent of Police Anoop T Mathew said 54 detonators, two cartridges, 200 g RDX, one kg urea, 250 gm sulphur, wire, leaflets, a copier machine etc were found during search conducted on the basis of lead provided by them.
As per the surrender policy, he said, the Naxals would be given Rs 2 lakh each and land for constructing house, besides other benefits.
