Sunil, alias Doctor, was shot dead by Nafe Singh, alias Mantri, and two accomplices at Deenpur Mod in Najafgarh area at around 11 pm.
Hours later at 2.30 am, Sunil's brother-in-law Kapil Sangwan launched an attack on Mantri's house in Chawla and killed the latter's father Harkishan Singh, and injured his wife Sharmila (32) and mother Kamla Devi (57).
The bloody gang war began when Sunil took to intervening on behalf of his friend Suraj Bhan, from whom Mantri had taken some money. He called Mantri to Deenpur Mod, where the latter arrived with two of his accomplices and killed Sunil, a senior police officer said.
At around 2.30 am, over half a dozen men led by Kapil reached the house of Mantri and asked his father Harkishan Singh, 60, a retired head constable of Delhi Police, about him. When Harkishan denied having any information about Mantri, he was allegedly shot dead by Kapil, the officer said.
As the ex-cop was shot, his wife Kamla came out of the house and was also hit with bullets fired at her. The attackers also shot and injured Mantri's wife Sharmila but spared kids in the house.
After the incident, neighbours rushed the injured women to hospital. Sharmila who was hit in the head and Kamla who was hit in abdomen and chest, were in a critical condition and undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Saket, added the officer.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra
Fadnavis, who was also present on the occasion said the technical textile sector in the country also has tremendous potential for generating employment.
"It is consistently being looked upon for the future growth of the country. While the (state) government has taken concrete initiatives in the area, the industry players also need to bring in large scale innovations," he said.
Gujarat and Karnataka are participating as partner states in the event.
