The three minor girls - aged between 5 to 7 years - had gone to pluck flowers near a bridge built on Bharsiya river in Bharsiya village under Phalka police station of Katihar district.
The girls had neared the river water to pluck flowers but slipped into waters and got sucked by the currents and while two girls were drowned, another one was saved by local people.
The deceased are - Sajida Khatoon (05), Shakila Khatoon (06) while Ishrat Khatoon (07) was saved from drowning, Phalka Circle Officer Jagannath Choudhary said while adding that Ishrat Khatoon is being treated at Phalka primary health centre.
