Following their release former terrorist Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa, fighting for their cause over 40 days by going on fast, ended his hunger strike at Akal Takhat in Amritsar.
Khalsa, who had after a meeting with Akal Takhat head Gurbachan Singh at a Sikh shrine in Mohali near here, had announced that he will end his fast on condition that two other Sikh detainees get parole.
The formalities for parole of the two convicts - Lakhwinder Singh and Shamsher Singh - lodged in Burail jail were over by evening and they were released on 28 days' parole each, officials said.
They have been released on parole on "stringent grounds", officials said, adding both will stay at their native places and will have to report to concerned police station twice a week.
They can leave the station in case of emergency only after due permission from concerned District Magistrates, officials said.
Family members of Lakhwinder Singh, who hails from Ludhiana and Shamsher Singh from Patiala along with activists of radical Dal Khalsa outfit were present outside the jail to receive them.
After getting parole, both the convicts dashed to Gurudwara Amb Sahib in Mohali to pay obeisance before leaving for their destinations.
