2 Muzaffarabad-based firms banned from cross-LoC trade

Authorities in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) today banned two Muzaffarabad-based companies from carrying out trade across the Line of Control (LoC).
In a letter to the custodian of the cross-LoC trade in Kashmir, the PoK officials said they had banned two companies related to trader Anjum Zaman.
The two companies blacklisted till further orders are Ghousia Traders, and Al Zafar and Co.
The PoK authorities asked their Indian counterparts to stop any consignment to be delivered to these blacklisted companies.
The order came in the wake of a major drug haul from a truck coming from PoK last month.
Over 66 kilogrammes of heroin and brown sugar were recovered on 21 July at the Uri trade facilitation centre, leading to suspension of trading activities for two weeks.

The trade resumed today.
Senior PDP leader and Jammu and Kashmir minister Naeem Akhtar welcomed the order, saying "it will ensure that cross- LoC trade is clean and black sheep are isolated".
