2 private schools set ablaze in Manipur

Two private schools in Manipur, whose students were denied admit cards by CBSE after the institutions were found not recognised by the board, were set afire in Imphal West district, the police said today.
The schools that were set ablaze on Saturday were identified as Akash Institute and Central Institute of Sciences at Ghari on the outskirts of the city and Keisamthong in the capital complex respectively, the police said.
The two schools had hundreds of students enrolled in class 10 and class 12 respectively who were to take their CBSE exams scheduled next month.
The students were not issued admit cards as both the institutions were found unregistered with the board, officials said.

Maoist Communist Party, Manipur, spokesman Nonglen Meitei in a statement claimed responsibility for the torching of the Central Institute of Sciences at Keisamthong for 'misleading hundreds of students'.
It was not yet known who set afire the second educational institute.
The authorities of both the schools are untraceable, the police said.
