According to SSP Onkar Singh, the incident took place in the Jani area when Mohammed, who is the SP candidate for the Baghpat Lok Sabha seat, was leading a procession as part of his campaign for the upcoming polls.
Police said that the two youths hailing from Sisaula Kalan village had fired in the air with their licensed revolvers.
A case has been registered against the duo, police added.
Meanwhile, upon being contacted, Mohammed denied that any firing had taken place during the procession. He also said he was not aware of any arrests having been made in connection with the alleged firing.
