In another case, one more SP produced an Inspector of Police against whom the court had issued a warrant.
Karur SP Nirmal Kumar Joshi and his Coimbatore Rural counterpart M Sudhakar appeared before Justice N Kirubakaran and apologised for not implementing his orders directing them to arrest two of their sub-ordinates.
The Judge had directed the Karur SP to arrest and produce then Inspector Muthurajah (now DSP) after he closed a land- grabbing complaint by a woman though the court found prima facie material to proceed further.
Hence, the SP appeared before the Judge today after arresting Muthurajah and apologised.
Similarly, Coimbatore Rural SP Sudhkar also appeared today with a police official, whom he failed to produce yesterday, and apologised for not obeying the court order.
In the other case, Kanyakumari SP N Manivannan produced Inspector of Rajakkamangalam Anbu Prakash in connection with a demolition of a hut when a property dispute relating to it was pending before the court.
Noticing that the Inspector had not been arrested as ordered by him and had come in civil dress, Justice Kirubakaran said he should be formally arrested and produced before the court on Augus 28.
Had the case been registered properly, there would not have been any need for the SP to have come to the court, the Judge said.
The court had on August 8 ordered issue of non-bailable warrant (NBW) to arrest and produce the inspector.
Petitioner Chellam, who was living with a mentally challenged son, was thrown out of the hut before its demolition. She had filed the petition enclosing a photograph of her and her son sitting before the hut with household articles thrown out.
