Two women were rescued from West Bengal and a human trafficking racket was busted with the arrest of two persons who allegedly forced girls to work as bar dancers, the police said today.
A resident of west Delhi's Inderpuri informed the police that his daughter and niece, aged 20 and 21 respectively, informed him about going to work in Jaipur.
The cousins told him that they had been offered the job of welcoming guests at weddings in Jaipur and were going to be paid Rs 2,000 every day, they said.
He allowed them to leave with the accused, a woman aged 21, on October 23.
Later, his daughter and niece got in touch with the complainant and told that they had been taken away to Siliguri in West Bengal and were being forced to work as bar dancers, the police said.
The accused also took away their IDs and their cell phones after she learnt that the two cousins had alerted their family in Delhi and did not allow them to leave Siliguri, they said.
A Delhi Police team reached Siliguri and gathered clues about the accused.
Raids were conducted at a paying guest accommodation owned by one Subir Das (32) near Green Valley apartment, Rajpath road there along with the local police there, Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Vijay Kumar said.
The police teams succeeded to rescue the two women.
The victims told police that the accused woman took them to Siliguri and handed them over to Das who forced them to work as bar dancers. When they refused, the accused threatened them, the officer said.
Subsequently, Das and his woman accomplice were arrested on November 1 from there.
During interrogation, the accused woman revealed that Das, who is running a dance bar at Cosmos Mall, Siliguri, had deputed her to bring girls from the NCR to work there, the DCP said.
Das used to pay her Rs 10,000 for every girl she used to bring to him in addition to travel and other expenses, the officer added.
